Presentation of the Agri-Development Department

The Agri-Development Department has a team of a dozen staff qualified in fields as varied as animal and plant production, energy, differentiated quality, compatibility and technical-economic advice, the design of buildings and animal welfare, self-checking/ ICQM (Integral Chain Quality Management) and cattle feed. They are also available for Walloon farmers, for the food industry and for public institutions, to offer advice or to share their projects.

Presentation of the Biotechnology Department

The Biotechnology Department of the CER works in the field of antibodies.  Our highly qualified teams possess a wealth of experience in obtaining hybridomas, bioreactor production and the molecular engineering of monoclonal antibodies for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.  We also offer a variety of services in cell culture, fish pathology and we conduct pre-clinical studies.

Presentation of the Health Department

Founded in 1974, the CER’s Health Department, formerly the Hormonology Laboratory, provides very many services and products in the field of animal reproduction, food safety and biotechnology.

Several tests for early diagnosis of gestation are also available for cattle and horse breeders.

In the field of food safety, the Laboratory is equipped with high-efficiency analytical tools that enable us to investigate a wide range of residues in foods. The analyses are performed under ISO 17025 (073-TEST) accreditation.

This internationally recognised expertise is shared in European research projects such as MoniQA, Conffidence, Unique Check, Nanolyse, Allermass, etc.

The reagents produced as part of the fine tuning of methods of screening for the study of residues are used in detection kits, essentially of the ELISA type. These kits and reagents are used by many laboratories involved in checking residues in animals as well as for anti-doping testing on athletes and horses. They have been updated in collaboration with reference laboratories.

We also provide technological guidance for the food industry, with the aim of improving their processes as well as the quality of their products. This work is financed by Wallonia Region.

Finally, our infrastructure also enables us to produce biological reagents such as polyclonal antibodies for the fine tuning of in vitro diagnostic tests.

The Health Department of the CER Group numbers over 50 people who put their expertise at the service of their clients. Its main strengths are expertise, flexibility, modern infrastructure and high-performance equipment together with extraordinary acumen.
